84 Rx-7 GSL-SE Electric Fan installation

First off, I can't claim ownership of this creation. This is largely the creativity of the Rx-7 mailing list using a modified mounting method used by David Disney on his GXL. For those interested in his technique, check out his web page http://rx7.voodoobox.net/howto/efan/efan.html

David's research and experience was absolutely invaluable for this project. Read his page firt, it has MUCH more detail about e-fan conversion.

While Kevin Wright's clever little scheme sank in through my thick skull, we went to Home Depot and bought the necessary bolts, nuts, washers, and a 36x2x2 90 degree aluminum extrusion ("L" shaped with the two sides being 2" wide). This parts were used to mount the fan to the radiator without having to drill into the radiator, thus saving what was left of my sanity and circumventing a little anxiety.

Fan clearance - the e-shaft and fan's motor shaft are separated vertically by about an inch and a half and longitudinally by about half an inch. This is the closest point of contact with moving parts.
Driver's side mounting - detail of the 2x2 inch aluminum extrusion and the four bolts necessary to secure the fan to the radiator.
Passenger side mounting - detail of passenger side mount showing hole needed for thermostat control knob.
Integrated shroud - The Flex-a-Lite Black Majic 150 has a built on shroud with a nice rubber gasket around it's circumference. With the fan on I can feel air being pulled through the front of the radiator from at least six inches distance.
